HERE TODAY HERE TOMORROW is a collective of four creative practitioners specialising in sustainable fashion and textiles, with a diverse background in design, research and curation. The four designers – Anna-Maria Hesse, Emma Rigby, Inês Vicente and Julia Crew, met as students on the inaugural year of London College of Fashion’s groundbreaking MA Fashion and the Environment. Following their graduation in 2010 the group decided to join together and set up a studio space where they could not only continue their own work, but also explore their ideas and inspirations collaboratively. HERE TODAY HERE TOMORROW, is a play on the phrase ‘here today, gone tomorrow’. As designers they are very concerned by the disposable and throw away nature of fashion, and within society as a whole. The environmental and social impacts of thoughtless production and consumption are something that the designers try to address and remedy in their work using a variety of approaches and solutions. HERE TODAY HERE TOMORROW is making a positive statement towards long lasting change! The journey of HERE TODAY HERE TOMORROW is starting with a twelve-month residency in a retail unit in Dalston, London. The space will be used as both a studio and shop, where the designers can develop and create their collections, which can then be showcased directly to the public. The space will also be used to exhibit the work of other inspiring and innovative creatives and to develop educational workshops. |
